If you are unsure whether you have the skills or tools needed to complete any of the wood projects described in our on-line catalog, read the comments given for each project, below.
Note: Our plans use Imperial units (inches & feet) only.

HockinoleTM – Woodworking skill level: beginner

hockinsm.jpg This board game is suitable for novice woodworkers. It can be built with plywood & 1x2 lumber. Tools needed are saw, drill, hammer, screw driver, measuring tape, try square, straight edge, & permanent marker. A table saw would be good for cutting out the base board, but if you lack one you could have your lumber supplier cut it (many building supply stores do this for a nominal charge). We sell game pieces.

Round Trip – Woodworking skill level: beginner.

rndtrpsm.jpg This classic travel game is a suitable project for novice woodworkers. The plans contain a scaleable map grid which can be used to produce any size map. Printed airport names are also included. The board can be constructed with common lumber and ordinary hand tools: saw, drill & screw driver.

lchairsm.jpg Lawn Chair – Woodworking skill level: beginner.

This outdoor chair can be built by a novice woodworker with simple hand-held tools - measuring tape, saw, drill, hacksaw and adjustable wrench. If you are using a hand saw, a miter box would help ensure square cuts. This wood project is quick and inexpensive to make using common materials available from hardware and building supply stores. (A good school shop or 4-H project.)

Carrom Board – Woodworking skill level: beginner / intermediate.

carromsm.jpg There are 2 ways to build this project : butted rails for beginners & mitered rails for intermediate woodworkers. In either case you need a drill & at least 10 C-clamps or spring clamps. A circular saw (panel saw, table saw) is needed to cut out the pieces, but if you lack one you could have your supplier cut all the pieces from a half sheet of plywood. Mitered rails require table saw or miter saw. Use ink markers for surface pattern. We sell carrom disks.

Crokinole Board – Woodworking skill level: beginner / intermediate.

crokinsm.jpg Beginners can build the square version of the crokinole board; the octagonal model is more suited to intermediate woodworkers. You need a band saw or hand-held jig saw for cutting the circular playing surface, drill, screw driver & hammer. A circular saw (table saw or hand-held power saw) is needed to cut the base board, but if you lack one you could have your supplier cut base to final size. The octagonal model requires table saw or miter saw to cut the railing. We sell crokinole disks.

Skittle-Maze – Woodworking skill level: intermediate.

skitmasm.jpg This project requires that you can build a simple box frame. A table saw is the best tool for cutting out the pieces, but if you lack one you could have your supplier cut all pieces from a half sheet of plywood or medium density fiberboard. Hammer, drill, try square, screwdriver & keyhole saw or hand-held jig saw are the only other tools needed. Finish is optional. This project uses standard material available at any building supply store. We sell game pieces.

Table Hockey – Woodworking skill level: intermediate.

hockeysm.jpg The hockey game project requires that you can build a simple box frame. You would need a drill, saw, hacksaw, band saw or hand-held jig saw to cut curves, combination pliers for cutting and bending wire. Painting and finishing are recommended. This project is built with standard wood and hardware. We sell the less common hardware, as a kit or individually.

Pin-Ball Baseball – Woodworking skill level: intermediate.

basebasm.jpg This project requires that you can build a simple box frame. You would need a saw capable of ripping 45-degree bevels, drill, combination pliers for cutting & bending wire. Painting recommended. Stencil patterns for surface markings are included with plans. Built with standard wood & hardware. We sell the less common hardware, as a kit or individually.
